Stamping with Pearl Ex Mixed Media Card

card 1

Hi everyone!  Today I am sharing some background stamping inspiration with you.  I've been trying out some variations with making Distress Ink backgrounds this weekend.  I decided to use Glimmer Mist to water down my ink and really love the way it turn out!  For this card I first stamped my brand new IndigoBlu stamp in Versamark, then dusted it with Pearl Ex powder - what a cool technique!

background

I've had these powders for years and years and decided to break them out for the All That Sparkles IndigoBlu challenge - they are definitely sparkly!  Ignore the glitter tape, I ended up making this entire card then ripping it apart and starting over...  Am I the only one?!  Anyway, I then dipped the stamped and Pearl Exed panel into my DI and Glimmer Mist puddle.  It did remove some of the Pearl Ex, but it ended up on the card in various puddles, which I loved!

card 3

I ended up dropping pools of Concord Grape DI, White Mister Huey ink, and watered down Pearl Ex on the card randomly.

card 4

The edges were distressed and curled and then rubbed lightly with Versamark and embossed with ages old Cloisonne embossing powder, which is similar to UTEE or Frantage.  I also added some to the ornate paper frame.

card 5

I inked the butterfly pretty much the same way and layered it over the frame, a scrap of hymnal page, and a bundle of floss. This was a really fun project and I'm so glad I stuck with it!  I picked up several new IndigoBlu stamps and can't wait to play with each of them!  They are so artistic and cool!

You certainly got some intensity of colour and texture going on here Autumn, it's a super piece. I'm a big fan of glimmer mists, they seems to have gone out of fashion here in the UK and not so easy to get hold of any more, but I have a good stash thankfully.

Beautiful mixed media card, Autumn! I'm happy you stuck with it, because your outcome is gorgeous! Cloisonne, I thought I was the only one who had those! I love them much better than UTEE or Frantage, but it took me forever to figure out how to use them; I got them from someone else with no instructions. I love your paper frame! Is it a die cut or ????. Such a pretty, grungy card! Thank you for sharing it with Anything But Cute for our Ring Out the Old, Bring in the New challenge! Hugs! Sara Emily DT

This is just Gorgeous! Love the color shade too. I have some of the old Pearl Ex too, and forget about. Love the butterfly over that wonderful frame, and the splendid flourish in the background. Really well done on choosing colors, techniques & embellies - TFS - Hope you're staying warm in this frosty weather. Hugs

A very inspirational post, nice to see detailed pictures showing different stages of the process, useful for people like me not comfy with the mixed media style yet. Your card turned out looking gorgeous.

Oh, Autumn, I am so intrigued by this new mixed media technique you've used. What a gorgeous result! I love the rich colors, and I remember that I too have some Frantage that my friend and I bought at our LSS last year when the owner showed us how to use it. I just may have to try playing with it - hehe! But you are truly a master at mixed media and continue to delight! Wow, I'd love to watch you...it looks like fun (and a bit messy - haha!). Hugs, sweet friend, and thanks for popping in on me and leaving a sweet comment!
